This Privacy Policy describes how Litora collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Litora mobile application (Android) and the web portal at litora.in.

1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, username, and profile photo.
- Profile details: Bio, educational background, professional affiliation, institution, social links, and any additional information you choose to add to your profile.
- Published content: Articles, posts, short updates, poems, research notes, and any other content you create and publish on Litora.
- Communications: Messages sent through Litora's in-app chat and direct messaging features.
- Event participation: Registration details and attendance data for webinars and events you join or host on Litora.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, and device identifiers.
- Usage data: Content viewed, time spent, interactions, and general navigation patterns within the app.
- Notification tokens: Device tokens used to deliver push notifications to you.
- Reading history: Content you have engaged with, used to personalise your discovery experience.
- Crash and diagnostic data: Error reports and performance data used to improve app stability.
- Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymised usage events (such as screen views, feature interactions, and session duration) collected via Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to help us understand how users engage with the platform and improve the experience.
2. Device Permissions
The Litora Android app may request the following device permissions. Each permission is requested only when the relevant feature is used.

You may decline any permission. If you do, the features that depend on that permission will not be available. No permission data is shared with third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Litora account.
- To publish and distribute the content you create on the platform.
- To enable in-app messaging, live webinars, and event features.
- To send you push notifications for activity relevant to your account.
- To personalise your content discovery experience.
- To maintain and improve the performance, security, and reliability of the platform.
- To respond to support, legal, or compliance requests.
Litora does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.
4. Data Storage and Infrastructure
Your account data, content, messages, and activity are stored in India-based data centres through our trusted third-party infrastructure partners, who maintain their primary servers in the India region. Litora has specifically configured its data storage to keep core user data within India wherever possible.
Media files you upload (such as profile photos and images) are delivered via a global content delivery network (CDN) operated by our infrastructure partners to ensure fast access regardless of your location. CDN edge nodes may be located outside India, but this is limited to content delivery only — your core account data remains in India.
5. Third-Party Analytics
Litora uses Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to collect anonymised, aggregated data about how users interact with the app. This data includes events such as screen views, feature usage, and session information. It does not include your name, email address, or any directly identifiable personal information.
Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You may opt out of analytics data collection at any time through your device's privacy settings.
6. Data Retention
- Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.
- Content cached by search engines or third-party services may persist beyond this period; Litora is not responsible for such external retention.
7. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:
- Access personal data Litora holds about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure — request permanent deletion of your personal data.
- Withdraw consent for any data processing activity at any time.
- Nominate a representative to exercise your rights on your behalf.

8. Children's Privacy
Litora is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you become aware that a minor has created an account, please contact us at legal@litora.in and we will delete the account promptly.
9. Data Security
Litora implements industry-standard security practices to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between your device and Litora's servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Access controls ensure that your data is only accessible to you and authorised Litora systems.
- Our backend infrastructure is secured with role-based access and security rules.
No method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
Litora may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the updated date at the top of this page will be revised. For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Litora after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
